Altera ((NASDAQ:ALTR), the programmable solution company, announced that it has been selected from hundreds of competitive nominations to be a finalist in the Development Kits category for this year’s EDN Innovation Awards. Instituted in 1990, the Innovation Awards honor the people, products, and technologies that have shaped the semiconductor industry over the past year.
Altera’ Nios II Evaluation Kit has demonstrated innovation that resulted in a significant advance in both technology and product development. With a Cyclone III starter board and a touchscreen LCD (800×480-pixel color), the Nios II Evaluation Kit allows developers to launch example applications, such as networking and audio and image processing with the touch of a finger. In addition, it’s several tutorials, Nios II embedded-design suite and design examples with source code showing applications such as Picture Viewer, Web Server, C-to-Hardware (C2H) acceleration, and graphics make it easy to develop software for the Nios II processors.
